Why do we do these sponsor homes?

Contact us for sponsor information. Sponsor families help to save our rare breed and to keep the breed's future safe. These dogs are very important and are owned by families as their own dog forever, often are already Champions and produce pups that go on to promote the breed in future years. The dog is available to suitable owners and has conditions applied.  See full disclosure of this program.

Why we do this...

As you probably already know this breed is rare and although breeders bring in new imports things are getting harder due to costs of our quarantine requirements, import costs and availability of dogs world wide. The aim of the Sponsor Home Program is to place our breeding stud dogs in loving home environments to promote happy, healthy and much adored family pets.  This is where you come in as a "sponsor" family, you would care for one of our breeding/show puppies in your home as your own pet.

Your responsibility under either agreement...

You will be responsible for loving them, walking them, grooming them, making sure they have a good diet, vet check-ups and a safe place to sleep and play, while they participate in their breeding/show program just as you would your family dog. Collecting their health tests and making them available for stud use as part of the contract.

You must be willing to keep the female or male entire and live in Qld within reasonable driving distance from us. We have two systems available. Contact us for more info.

Option 1

At 6 months you will need to have his full breed DNA collected and sent to Orivet for a certified result. (Generally already completed prior sending to a sponsor home).

12 months You agree to have yearly eye exams until the dog is 8 years old.

18 months  You agree to take your dog to an eye exam , a heart exam (arranged by us) and must have a passing grade to continue the program. Hip and Elbow certified scoring to keep the breed healthy.

2 years Should the dog complete all health tests with passing grades for our Sponsor stud program and another breeder has an interest in him being used at stud requiring a paid fee, we are happy to facilitate the breeding arrangements. These may include the stud service, fuel and other costs. We split the stud fee 50/50, less the costs paid by us including travel pickup, fuel, etc..

Option 2

If all health testing has been completed prior to homing a dog under a sponsor home, then we have a fee for the dog, instead of the health test requirements (exempt is the yearly eye test).

A Sponsor home dog that has been fully health tested is available under option 2. The dog is offered on the sponsor home Carer program at a fee of $2,000 payable prior to taking the dog home. The remaining health test is required for a sponsor dog to be eye tested and certified yearly until it is 8 years old. Every other part of option one still applies with exception to the 6, 12 and 18 month – 2 years old health requirements in option 1

Inclusive in option 2 is that at 12 months-You agree to have yearly eye exams until the dog is 8 years old.

2 years Should the dog complete all health tests with passing grades for our Sponsor stud program and another breeder has an interest in him being used at stud requiring a paid fee, we are happy to facilitate the breeding arrangements. These may include the stud service, fuel and other costs.

We will split the stud fee 50/50, less the expenses incurred by us including travel pickup, fuel, etc. for more details on option 2 please contact us.

We have several successful dogs on both option 1 and 2 agreement systems.

Stud dogs.

The future of our breeding program often is with the Stud dogs, but often breeders need to wait at age appropriate to use them at stud.  These young males are between 1 and 3 years of age, trained and socialized and need to be made available on occasional times for shows or at any time required by us for breeding.  Stud owners must live within 2.5 hours drive of Masterkarn kennels for us to have the dog available. The dog is placed at a large discount to compensate the owner for the effort of keeping an intact male or female.  The dog/bitch is also required to be shown at specialty or major All breeds shows including the Royal shows.

How Does the Breeding Program Work?

The above female is Gracie who was on our sponsor home on a  breeding agreement and gave us 3 Champions and sent her son to the USA to further the breed there at the well known Daveren kennels. Her son went on to produce Grand champions from his progeny.
